How Solar Will Impact Our Quality Of Life - 10/11/09

Please consider your house not just as an investment but a place where your environment can sustain all of our futures. I know these days it's hard to do the "right" thing for yourself and the environment considering your neighbors almost always don't lead by example. They may not be recycling properly or may be using harmful chemicals around their property. Do yourself a favor and lead by example - it's truly liberating.
There are plenty of ways to utilize renewable energy sources in your own home environment to be sustaining. As you know you can use all your grey water on your gardens or use your tank water where you can instead of town water, etc...
More importantly you can invest some of your dollars in renewable energy such as solar power. I already know of people who have set it up for use on their sheds, so they can rent the shed as a livable area and make money back on their investment. You may be able to claim the associated installation on your tax bill
to lighten the financial load. Below is a list of points to consider when investing your hard earned dollars in solar power.
>Make sure you investigate where you obtain your Solar unit from - competitive pricing, time when your unit will be installed
>What warranties apply to the panels, inverter, cabling, etc...
>What your insurance company can cover you for and if you premiums will go up
>What return you are going to get when receiving credits from your retailer
>Where your energy returning to the grid is going
>When you will be able to make your money back on the cost of the installation
>What is the best way to keep your installation maintained (always performing at it's peak)
>What size inverter you will need for now and in the future
>how many panels will be enough for now and in the future
>etc...
The more you consider no, the more likely you will be assured you made the right decisions. Most systems installed in a domestic situation these days are what is known as Grid Return Solar Systems because of their ease of maintenance, price in the market (affordability), and ease of use.
You have to ask questions when purchasing while always keeping in mind, how am I helping my environment, what's in it for me now and in the future and is the installation going to suit my demand and application.
